Venue Entertainment Decision Matrix

Trivia, karaoke and live music suit different rooms, different service styles and different nights. This tool scores all three against criteria you weight yourself, flags the licensing questions each one raises, and gives you a place to log the results if you pilot more than one. No format is favoured in the defaults and no number here comes from anywhere but your own answers.

Your venue profile

All optional, and none of it feeds the scoring. It is here so the page you print carries the context alongside the numbers.

Score the three formats

Rate each format 1 to 5 against each criterion for your room specifically, and change the weights to match what you are actually trying to achieve. Weights are percentages.

How the math works

  • Weighted score = the sum of each weight multiplied by that format’s 1 to 5 rating, divided by the total of the weights. Normalising by the actual total means the result stays a valid 1 to 5 figure even if your weights do not add to 100.
  • Criterion leader is the highest raw rating in that row, weights ignored. Equal ratings show as Tied.
  • Return rate = returning participants divided by guests, shown as a percentage. Needs both figures and a guest count above zero.
  • Net result = incremental sales minus total incremental cost. Both fields are required.
  • Cost per guest = total incremental cost divided by guests. Needs a guest count above zero.

A note on what this tool assumes

The starting weights are a structure to argue with, not a recommendation, and every one of them is editable. The 1 to 5 ratings are yours to set: we do not pre-score trivia above karaoke or live music, because the answer depends on your room, your service style and the night you are trying to fill. There are no industry averages in this page and no comparison to other venues.

Nothing here is legal advice, and nothing about licensing should be settled on the basis of a calculator.
